‘Very strange’: Spurs were desperate to sell 26-year-old who failed to impress Postecoglou this summer – journalist

Dean Jones, a journalist, asserts that Tottenham Hotspur was eager to get rid of this summer.

According to Jones, Ndombele didn’t impress Ange Postecoglou during preseason, according to GiveMeSport.

Ndombele, who was unable to gain a transfer during the British transfer season, sealed a move to Galatasaray this week.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a season-long loan agreement with the Turkish club, but Galatasaray reportedly has the option to purchase him for £12.8 million next summer.

Ndombele’s struggles at Tottenham are well known, as he has now failed to make an impression under five different permanent Spurs managers.

And Jones claims that Postecoglou was desperate to offload the Frenchman this summer.

Tottenham were desperate to sell Ndombele

Jones described Ndombele’s circumstance at Spurs as “very strange” in an interview with GiveMeSport.

The journalist remarked, “The Ndombele issue has been really peculiar. He ought to be one of the greatest midfielders in the Premier League, but he has never been able to seize the chances.

“In the end, I’ve been told that Tottenham was eager to get rid of him.

He was given a second chance by Ange Postecoglou this summer to establish himself and demonstrate that he might have a future at the club, but he failed to impress, and they just didn’t have place for passengers, so he was forced to move on.

Ndombele was acquired by Tottenham for a club-record £63 million in 2019, when they acquired him from Lyon.

It’s fair to conclude that neither Spurs nor Ndombele have benefited from the trade, and it is obvious that Postecoglou didn’t have any future ambitions for him.

Spurs are probably hoping Galatasaray will exercise their option to sign the former Lyon star on a long-term deal next summer.

Ndombele has been loaned out three times in the past four years, and it appears that Postecoglou will remain at Tottenham, so there won’t be a chance for him to return.
