Tottenham want to sign ‘frightening’ defender who is better than than Micky van de Ven
Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen has once again been linked to Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs’ desire to acquire a new central defender is well known.Even with Radu Dragusin’s signing last month, a center-half is still required. Tottenham has once again made Tapsoba a target after having him on their radar for some time.
Tottenham want to sign Edmond Tapsoba
Tottenham’s top goal during the summer transfer window was Edmond Tapsoba.
After Ange Postecoglou arrived, Spurs were in severe need of defensive reinforcements, and the Bayer Leverkusen defender was strongly linked.
At one time, Spurs supporters were rating Tapsoba higher than Micky van de Ven, suggesting that a deal might be near. Because of his “ability on the ball, strength, and acceleration,” they considered the Leverkusen player to be a “more ready-made addition for Postecoglou’s defense” (Football London).
Van van Ven was ultimately signed by Spurs, but if Sport Bild (February 21, 2024, page 23) is any indication, Tapsoba is still a target for them.
According to the report, this summer’s transfer targets for the 25-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender are Tottenham and Chelsea.
According to current estimates, Tapsoba is only worth €40 million (£34 million), which would be a fantastic deal for a player of his caliber.
Tapsoba is a brilliant player
One of the top defenders in the Bundesliga is Edmond Tapsoba.
The league’s official website characterizes the 25-year-old as a “powerful and super quick defender” with “frightening heading abilities.”
Strong tapsoba is another feature. Take it from all the guys who have faced him this season: at 6 feet 4 inches tall, he is quite impossible to get past.
Tottenham is correct to pursue a player such as Tapsoba, but it is unclear if he would be open to go to Spurs, where there is no assurance of regular playing time.
