Orban caught the attention of plenty of European clubs with his form last season. The 21-year-old struck 20 goals in 22 appearances and has begun this term with five strikes in just three games.
Spurs are reportedly keen to replace Kane with much younger strikers, with Richarlison expected to lead the line against Brentford on Sunday. The Premier League side are engaged in discussions with Gent over a transfer.
Reports suggest that Spurs are slightly off Gent’s asking price of around £26m (€30m). Through intermediaries, the North Londoners supposedly made an initial verbal offer of £23m (€27m).
Tottenham are reportedly interested in Gift Orban
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, a written offer could be made next week in order to get Spurs closer to Gent’s valuation. A fee for the diminutive attacker could apparently rise above £30m including add-ons.
Orban has enjoyed a remarkable rise over the last few years. As recently as 2021, he was playing for Bison FC in his homeland of Nigeria. He then moved to Norwegian side Stabaek before sealing a switch to Gent a year later.
It would be quite the task for the Nigerian to replace Kane at Spurs. Spurs are seeking to reinvest the initial £95m they have received from Bayern Munich for their star man.
Kane’s future was finally sealed on Saturday morning when the 30-year-old England captain announced his switch to Germany. He ended a 19-year association with Spurs by agreeing a blockbuster move to Bayern.
Harry Kane has joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou, who will oversee his first Premier League game on Sunday, revealed that Kane made clear his desire to leave in their very first conversation in July. Postecoglou will now seek a replacement for the Premier League’s second-highest scorer.
“I had a conversation with Harry the first day I arrived. He was upfront and honest and I was the same,” said Postecoglou. “You kind of get an indication that he had made up his mind that if the clubs agreed a deal, he would go.
“His emphasis was [to resolve his future] before the first game – that was mine as well. There’s been nothing along the way that made me feel like there was anything else other than this outcome.”
