Tottenham plotting swoop for £84m duo as Postecoglou plans to revamp key area

In this transfer window, Spurs have been active and have already added Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon to their roster.

The Lilywhites have reportedly expressed a desire to bolster their defensive line, with Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven being named as top targets.

As for Hojbjerg, the Daily Mail reports that Atletico Madrid has expressed interest in acquiring him and has begun formal negotiations with Tottenham to do so after being inspired by his desire to transfer to the Spanish capital.

According to the source, Tottenham has begun looking into options to replace the Danish international if he departs in the near future and has highlighted Luiz and Gallagher as significant targets. The tabloid also claims that Ange Postecoglou ‘admires’ Gallagher and thinks the Chelsea player would be the perfect fit to play in his system.

Gallagher and Luiz to Tottenham

However, the Daily Mail states that it is not clear yet whether Aston Villa and Chelsea will let their star man leave if Spurs formalise their interest this summer.

It has been reported that Chelsea could opt to cash-in on Gallagher if they receive an offer of around £50m. On the other hand, having signed a new contract with Aston Villa last year, Luiz – valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt – still has three years left in his current contract.

Therefore, Unai Emery’s team is not in a hurry to offload its top player this summer, and Spurs will need to make a sizable offer to convince them to cash in. Therefore, it is clear that Spurs will have to make a significant investment to secure the services of Gallagher and Luiz during this transfer window.

Gallagher and Luiz have already demonstrated their abilities in the Premier League in recent seasons; if Spurs are able to acquire both before the end of current window, they will undoubtedly strengthen their engine room.

It will be fascinating to watch if Tottenham ultimately decides to cash in on Hojbjerg and sign both Gallagher and Luiz to replace the Scandinavian this summer.
