Tottenham plot stunning raid on London rivals

Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly interested in two center-backs as Ange Postecoglou looks for successor for Davinson Sanchez. The Australian manager is tasked with rebuilding the Spurs squad following poor 2022/23 season in which they finished eighth in the table. Tottenham are working hard this summer to improve their defensive options. This season, the London team has conceded 63 goals, which is the sixth-worst record in the Premier League.

This ultimately contributed significantly to Tottenham’s failure to qualify for Europe for the first time since 2009. It will be interesting to watch who they bring on board. Sanchez is poised to depart the club after sliding down the pecking order at Spurs, as previously reported by TEAMtalk. With only 18 Premier League appearances in 2022/23, the Colombia international has been considered surplus to requirements. As result, Postecoglou will have to find replacement. Someone with the ability to slot directly into the starting XI is ideal.

Now, they have identified two centre-backs they could bring in this summer. One of whom plays for one of Tottenham’s London rivals.

Tottenham is interested in Fulham centre-back Postecoglou is interested in signing Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo this summer, according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas. “Exclusive: Tottenham are considering Tosin Adarabioyo as centre-back,” he posted on Twitter

“There is one year left on his deal at Fulham and he is open to leaving the club.”

Adarabioyo made 25 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers this season.

Generally, he found himself behind Tim Ream and Issa Diop in the pecking order. But, he is still well thought of by Marco Silva.

However, Adarabioyo is keen for more consistent playing time elsewhere. So, a switch to Tottenham could be on the cards.

But, he is not the only centre-back Spurs have their eye on. As per a separate report from Japanese outlet Sponichi Annex, Stuttgart defender Hiroki Ito is also on their radar.

In 2022/23, the 24-year-old made 30 Bundesliga appearances. He also made one World Cup appearance for Japan last year. Postecoglou had track record of bringing in Japanese players throughout his time at Celtic. In fact, he is interested in bringing Celtic attacker Kyogo Furuhashi to Tottenham. With that in mind, it would not be surprising if the Spurs signed Ito. It will be intriguing to see whether Spurs sign both Adarabioyo and the Stuttgart defender this summer.
