TOTTENHAM LEGEND DELIGHTED 31-YEAR-OLD TO ‘STAY’ AFTER ANGE POSTECOGLOU’S ARRIVAL
Graham Roberts is overjoyed that Ryan Mason is going to’stay’ at Tottenham Hotspur and join Ange Postecoglou’s coaching team.
Ryan Mason has worked with Tottenham’s academy and also served on the coaching staff, most recently under Antonio Conte
.
After being put in interim command on a few occasions by Daniel Levy, some speculated that he would now want to be his own man, but Roberts was relieved to learn that the 31-year-old will stay put and work under new manager, Ange Postecoglou, as he tweeted.
“Fantastic news, Ryan Mason appears to be staying,” stated Roberts. “Alasdair Gold has spoken to a lot of current players who really like him.” There is a lot to look forward to
“No, his education will be more under Ange.”
“Also very important we have someone who knows current players and can tell Ange some info he will not be aware of.”
The season didn’t end as Mason would have liked with Spurs missing out on European football altogether despite comfortably beating Leeds United on the final day.
But that wasn’t the reason why they finished eighth because the damage had already been done months and months before.
Mason also has to take responsibility because he was on the coaching field as well, but it will be interesting to see how his game grows now he will be working under an attack-minded coach.
Mason to be Tottenham coach in the future?
There were some suggestions that the gig was going to be handed to Mason prior to Postecoglou’s arrival.
The Englishman himself even expressed that he wanted the role, so it’s interesting that he’s not taking a first-team job elsewhere in order to build himself up.
After just turning 30, he has years and years left in his locker to become a manager one day and some feel, if he does the business elsewhere, then the Tottenham job will be his in years to come.
