With more international matches on the horizon, Tottenham injury news has Ange Postecoglou holding his breath about Cristian Romero and James Maddison.
Tottenham was relieved when Cristian Romero was seen working out with Argentina after worrying that the important center-back had an injury while representing his country. Ange Postecoglou expects for his players to return to the club in the upcoming days after his stunning performance against Ecuador last week.
Romero and his new defensive partner Mickey van der Ven have established a solid foundation for Spurs, who have gone unbeaten through their first four Premier League games.The two have anchored the team under new management and haven’t committed a foul yet.
Romero was reportedly injured in South America following the 2026 World Cup qualifier, but that was quickly disproved as he was seen practicing again in advance of Bolivia’s second match of the break. Players needed additional oxygen supplies because the game was being played at around 12,000 feet above sea level when Brazil was there in 2017.
James Maddison has been essential to Postecoglou’s efforts as well. The 26-year-old’s stunning debut in north London has helped him start on fire in the middle and earn a fourth England cap.Although Gareth Southgate chose him in an unconventional left-wing position for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with England, he was still the focus of a lot of attention from Spurs supporters.
As is sometimes the case at the club level, Maddison was fouled twice as the Ukrainian defense flagged him as one of the obvious dangers. Every time he is injured for club or country, there is fear because of his importance, but so far he has avoided serious injury.
He will take the field one more for the Three Lions on Tuesday when they face Scotland at Hampden Park. Spurs supporters may be hoping that he isn’t involved in order to maintain his health because it is a game that is likely to be played under the influence and where the only prize is bragging rights.
