‘There’s no place’: Brendan Rodgers told he must drop ‘mad’ 23-year-old Celtic player to win the league

It has been communicated to Brendan Rodgers that he needs to bench Alexandro Bernabei in order to keep the league title at Celtic Park.

In lieu of Greg Taylor, who is injured, the Hoops manager has turned to Alexandro Bernabei. To be fair to the Argentine, Bernabei has performed admirably given the lack of playing time he has had over the previous two seasons.

However, football player and analyst Stephen McGinn has asked Rodgers to bench Bernabei for the championship run-in now that Greg Taylor is returned.

It’s a terrific thing for Greg Taylor in terms of what he’s done, especially in those two years under Ange Postecoglou, McGinn stated [The Go Radio Football Show].

But now that he’s back in training, Celtic supporters are able to catch a sight of him, which is huge for him.

“He’s been incredibly dependable and steady over the past few years.

“Brendan Rodgers will be happy to have Greg Taylor back and available. He does some great things, but he also does some crazy things. Now that we are nearing the finish line with 13 games left, there is no place for crazy things.”

Alexandro Bernabei’s stalling Celtic career

The Argentine struggled to unseat an excellent Taylor after joining Celtic in 2022 for £3.75 million from Lanus.

At the end of the previous season, there were rumors that he may be eligible for an Argentina international call-up, so Celtic supporters might have believed they had a gem on their hands.

But the young player has only made 27 appearances overall, and this season, he hasn’t earned a spot on the team; instead, he has been deployed only as necessary.

Although the 23-year-old was expected to leave Celtic in January, he was once more kept there by necessity after news of Greg Taylor’s injury surfaced in the middle of the winter transfer window.

Here, a recurring motif becomes apparent. I wouldn’t be shocked if Bernabei was let go during the summer.

According to McGinn, Rodgers has the consistency necessary to play fullback for Celtic, and as the title battle draws to a close, it is only a matter of time until a costly error like the one at Aberdeen happens.
