Spurs: Made contact for £130m rated Striker as Harry Kane possible Replacement
When Bayern Munich made their offer for Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur was undoubtedly completely taken aback. Daniel Levy probably assumed that most would be turned off by the absurd £200 million price tag that was placed on his head.
After rejecting that initial approach from the Germans, the chairman adhered to his promise and has maintained a firm position over the England captain.
It appears that a choice must now be made over whether to cash in on the 29-year-old now or lose him for free next summer when his contract expires, with reports persisting that a second offer will arrive.
If he chooses the former, he might try to put those monies back into the position of his number nine, giving Ange Postecoglou the resources he needs to launch his revolution in north London.
But if he wants to get the £130 million that Napoli will demand for Victor Osimhen, he will need more than the initial €70 million (£60 million) that the Bavarian giants offered. Despite this, the Lilywhites are still one of the striker’s listed interested parties.
Is Victor Osimhen better than Harry Kane?
Kane’s dominant form, which saw him score 30 goals in the league despite his club being in disarray, was unmatched by many front men in Europe.
He really finished second in the competition for the European Golden Shoe, where Erling Haaland is, unsurprisingly, much in front. The Nigerian international, though, finished just three spots below the £200k-per-week winner, demonstrating how the 24-year-old is not far off the standards that the Spurs favorite has attained.
The former LOSC Lille striker scored 26 goals in Serie A last season and added five assists, with his raw physicality presenting a totally different approach from Kane’s. The former was also referred to as a “monster of a player” by journalist Colin Udoh, as if to emphasize this point.
One could argue that Osimhen even provides an improvement over Postecoglou’s technically superb but slightly sluggish existing option considering the intense press he will try to deploy in north London.
Levy, who is keen to add some hardware to erase the negative connotations associated with his club, will probably be interested in the presence of this 6 foot 1 star in a title-winning squad as well.
With the exception of his chance to surpass the all-time Premier League scoring record, Kane has spent 11 lengthy years as a professional player in the city.
Postecoglou can rest easy knowing that, should they chose Osimhen as his replacement, he won’t see much of a decline in goal production should he opt to take down that offer in favor of the assurance of trophies in Germany.
