Spurs expected team vs Fulham as Solomon one of five changes from Postecoglou

Here is how we believe Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham will line up against Fulham in Tuesday evening’s Carabao Cup round two clash between the sides at Craven Cottage

Tottenham supporters will be hoping that Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup match against Fulham is the first of seven contests in the competition this year. Spurs reach the second round for the first time since 2009, following their inability to obtain European football at the conclusion of the previous campaign.

Ange Postecoglou and his Spurs team were dealt one of the most difficult draws possible with an away trip to Fulham despite having the chance to play teams from the Championship, League One, and League Two. The Cottagers will be aiming to build on a strong debut season back in the Premier League and will be seeking to go far in the tournament, just like Tottenham.

After racking up seven out of a possible nine points in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham must now keep up the positive vibes at the club and qualify for the third round draw to continue their progress. The Spurs manager acknowledged in his post-match news conference that he will alter his starting lineup for the game at Craven Cottage following last Saturday’s 2-0 victory away at Bournemouth.

“Yeah, we’ll make some changes,” he said. “We have certain players who are eager to play and who work hard in practice. Additionally, our playing style demands a lot of us. There is a quick turnaround with a game the following week.

“We’ll adjust a few things, but only if we can win the game. We are implementing changes as a result. Not because I want to play a game with the boys. We can keep our game’s energy, speed, and quality hopefully by making the alterations.

Who will be in his team to play Fulham, then? Guglielmo Vicario should stay in goal rather than undergoing sweeping changes and give Fraser Forster his chance to play between the pipes.

Then, in lieu of Davinson Sanchez, Emerson Royal and Ben Davies are introduced to the team as full-backs, while Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven continue to play at the center of the defense. Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg appear to be strong possibilities to join the team in midfield, although it is unclear who will pair up with them.

Yves Bissouma might preserve his spot in midfield given the significance of advancing to round three and avoiding another first-round cup exit because he has been a key player under Postecoglou thus far. Richarlison will be a candidate to start once more as he sorely needs a goal to get his season going, but Son Heung-min, the captain, might get the nod over Ivan Perisic despite the Croat’s continued strong performances.

Manor Solomon joins the team and replaces Dejan Kulusevski in the three-man assault rather than bringing in Perisic and playing him out of position on the right.
