Malachi Fagan-Walcott has now officially announced his departure from Tottenham Hotspur and praised the staff for helping him become the player he is today.

Fagan-Walcott, who has represented England at the Under-17 and Under-16 levels, was highly regarded as he progressed through the Spurs age group ranks.

The center back made his senior debut for Spurs in the club’s Champions League loss against RB Leipzig in 2020 when he was just 18 years old, and that has been his sole first-team outing to this day.

In January 2021, the 21-year-old had a disastrous brief stint at Dundee United, when he sustained a season-ending injury after making only two appearances for the Scottish team.

The dynamic defender played 20 times in the Under-18 Premier League before making 49 appearances for Spurs’ Under-21s in Premier League 2 over the past few years (Transfermarkt).

Fagan-Walcott has already issued a heartfelt farewell statement on social media to announce that his eight-year time with the Lilywhites has come to an end.

Several years ago, it appeared that Fagan-Walcott would be the following academy defender to break into the Tottenham first team, following in Tanganga’s footsteps.

But for the past two to three years, the 21-year-old’s growth has completely stopped, in part because of his injury issues. The center-back will be aiming for a new beginning away from Spurs to enable him restart his career.

According to James Maddison, he gets along incredibly well with Son Heung-min and could talk to the South Korean all day long without becoming bored.

Son and Maddison are both a part of the new-look leadership group for Tottenham, with the offensive midfielder serving as one of the captain’s two assistants and the attacker receiving the captain’s armband.

The two players, who have already assisted each other in celebrating over the past three weeks, are developing a bromance.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Son expressed nothing but praise for the England international, saying that he enjoys playing with the 26-year-old.

The attacker said that Tottenham had been in desperate need of a talented midfielder like the former Leicester City player for a very long time.

James Maddison loves spending time with Sonny

Now it’s Maddison’s time to compliment Son, stating that the 31-year-old has done a great job adjusting to the leadership position.

“Sonny is a great lad,” Maddison said to Spurs Play. Particularly now that he has been handed the captaincy, he has taken on the leadership role and I feel like he is really excellent at it. He is such a welcoming, feel-good person who you could sit with for hours and chat endlessly.

No Spurs or rival player, in my opinion, has ever spoken anything unfavorable about Sonny. It is not unexpected that Maddison and the South Korean get along so well because she has the same outgoing personality as the latter.
