Spurs: £90m rated masterclass midfielder now top priority
According to a story in The Sun (1/7; page 67), after the Portuguese’s impressive debut season in the Premier League, West Ham is also a fan of him.
Joao Palhinha was a revelation for Fulham, helping Marco Silva’s team finish in the top-half of the Premier League in their first season back.
Tottenham keen on Joao Palhinha
It comes as no surprise that the Cottagers are opposed to allowing Palhinha to leave. In reality, earlier Daily Mail claims said that Fulham had set a startling asking price of £90 million.
However, interest exists. The Sun also claims that Palhinha is a target for interest from Tottenham and West Ham.
Naturally, it appears that West Ham is preparing for the departure of their key player. Tottenham could possibly go through some changes throughout this window.
According to journalist Dean Jones, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will likely leave Tottenham, as reported by Chasing The Transfer. Additionally, it would be unexpected if players like Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele joined Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the upcoming season.
However, it stands to reason that Tottenham would have little interest in spending £90 million on Palhinha. He was a’special’ acquisition for Fulham. But his Premier League career has just been going for a year. And this month, he turns 28.
Tottenham should want to sign players who are at the top of their game. However, if they are going to break their transfer record, it will undoubtedly be on a player who is a little bit younger.
Undoubtedly, the asking price would need to decrease in some way if Spurs were to increase their interest in Palhinha.
