Some late-night breaking news on the coaching front…

After taking numerous coaches out of Michigan over the past several weeks, the coaching carousel has finally returned one to Ann Arbor. I learned tonight from multiple program sources that Steve Clinkscale told coaches and players earlier today that he would be sticking in his position as defensive backs coach and co-defensive coordinator at Michigan.

Although Jim Harbaugh attempted to entice “Clink” to join the Chargers, in the end, his play was insufficient to win over the fourth-year Wolverine assistant.

Now that the backup position is filled, Sherman Moore’s focus shifts to his interview with Wink Martindale, the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens and former New York Giants, tomorrow. Program insiders predict that Moore will provide an offer of employment to Martindale if the meeting proceeds as planned. In addition, Martindale is anticipated to bring former New York Jets linebackers coach Drew Wilkins along if he accepts. One slot would thus remain open along the defensive line as a result. A number of candidates have surfaced for that position, one of whom is reportedly the clubhouse leader, according to reports.
