‘Ridiculous’: Pundit slates Tottenham star for ‘worthless’ mistake in his latest international outing

ESPN commentator Hans Kraay criticized Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven for making a mistake in the most recent game for the Netherlands.

The Spurs player has played flawlessly for Ange Postecoglou’s team since coming this summer.

Additionally, during the present break, Van de Ven made his Oranje debut.

The new Tottenham addition made his debut last week against France before making a second appearance on Monday night against Greece.

Van de Ven didn’t play in his typical center-back position, though. Instead, he took Quilindschy Hartman’s place as left-back.

The Spurs star conceded cheaply against the Euro 2004 champions late in the game.

Greece had the chance to seize the lead as a result of the breakaway that resulted from this, but they didn’t take advantage of it.

In the end, Virgil van Dijk’s late penalty helped the Netherlands win.

Kraay, however, was unimpressed with what he saw from the Tottenham player despite the fact that Van de Ven’s error did not prove costly.

He emphasized that the Tottenham player should stay at center-back because he has been performing so well there.

“This is a truly silly and useless ball. How are you going to make it up? According to Voetbal Primeur, Kraay said.

In the Netherlands, football is played at all levels, even the lowest of the low, and this ball is truly ludicrous. Give it to Tijjani Reijnders in front of you or chip it to the striker, but this…

He has started at left back for FC Volendam in the Kitchen Champion Division and fared extremely well, although he is much more effective in the midfield.

He also represents Tottenham, and they really make a break for it there.

Even the best athletes are prone to making blunders, especially when playing in a position they are uncomfortable with.

The criticism directed at Van de Ven surely seems a bit excessive.

He wasn’t playing in his natural position, his team didn’t lose the game as a result, he has generally been doing well, and he is still young.
