This weekend, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea will play in the London Darby, and Clinton Morrison has expressed his reservations about Pedro Porro’s defensive abilities.

Speaking to Premier League productions, Morrison disclosed that he is a fan of Pedro Porro and that the defender has been a great addition for Tottenham. The Spaniard may, however, be a weak defensive player, which could provide issues for Tottenham when they play Chelsea.

Morrison seemed concerned that on Monday night, players like Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling might take advantage of Porro’s defensive weaknesses.

It’s a tough one, but if Sterling plays on the left, Mudryk or Sterling will worry me more. One of those two, as I enjoy Porro, even though I don’t think he makes a decent defense. Romero, Van de Ven, and Udogie are our other options, according to Morrison.

The full-back has shown a lot of promise moving forward, but it’s unclear if he can continue to develop defensively.

Tottenham is leading the league standings after having a fantastic start to the season. They need a dependable defense in order to compete with teams like Manchester City and Arsenal if they hope to maintain their title challenge through the end of the season.

Pedro Porro is undoubtedly a gifted player, and in the upcoming months, he wants to refine his technique and become a better player. Spurs will be looking to win this time around against Chelsea after they performed well against Arsenal earlier in the season.

Porro is young enough to develop over the next few months and has the potential to become one of the league’s top full-backs.

Although Eric Dier hasn’t played for Tottenham yet this year, it doesn’t appear that he will be departing in January.

In fact, Alasdair Gold has been talking about Dier’s future on his YouTube channel and believes that unless a tremendous offer comes along, the defender most likely won’t be moved in the winter transfer window.

The defender’s deal with the Spurs expires in the summer, so he won’t be here for very long. Based on what’s been heard, Dier intends to play out his contract until it expires and become a free agent at that point, after which he will negotiate a new deal.

Dier unlikely to leave in January

Gold discussed Dier’s prospects.

“If we’re planning on Dier leaving in the summer of next year. Most likely not in January unless the Spurs and he struck the most incredible agreement that would force him to give up his free agency status and the additional compensation that accompanies it the following summer, Gold stated.

Makes sense

That Dier won’t be departing in January makes sense.

According to Gold, the defender’s best financial option at this time is to finish out his Tottenham contract in order to become a free agent and sign for a desirable sum.

Dier is too good to be gone, even for Tottenham. Even though he hasn’t been used yet this season, he is reportedly still a key player in the locker room and offers valuable coverage in the back.

In the near future, Tottenham will likely undergo a bit of a clearout as players like Hugo Lloris, Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are probably searching for other teams.

Dier’s time at Tottenham is undoubtedly coming to an end, although he will probably stay in January.
