Today is the deadline for transfers, and Tottenham Hotspur is planning to submit a bid to acquire Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.
Following Harry Kane’s departure last month, Ange Postecoglou’s side is in need of a new attacker. They’ve been associated to a number of celebrities, but none more so than Forest star Johnson.
Journalist Ben Jacobs broke the news.
Tottenham is preparing a bid for Brennan Johnson.
Brennan Johnson is a clear target for Tottenham at this moment.
For weeks, the North Londoners have been linked with a move for the Nottingham Forest forward, and their interest might be turned into a proposal today.
According to reports, the Reds are demanding £50 million for Johnson, after rejecting a £43 million proposal from Brentford earlier this week.
If Tottenham wants to sign him, they’ll have to make a greater offer, and Jacobs claims on GiveMeSport that a bid from Tottenham is on the way.
“They have prioritized Brennan Johnson, and we’ve known this for about a week and a half,” he said. It’s just a matter of if they can reach an agreement with Nottingham Forest.
“Whereas Tottenham were able to move quickly and get a lower package than was expected or was Leicester’s position with the James Maddison deal, I believe Nottingham Forest are sticking to their guns with their valuation of Johnson, and that’s why Tottenham may have to pay a little bit over the odds to get a deal done.”
“However, a bid for Johnson is imminent.” It could have arrived by the time people read this. He is currently Tottenham’s top priority.”
Tottenham can only blame themselves for leaving this till the last day of the transfer window.
Nottingham Forest now hold all of the cards, and after rejecting a massive bid from Brentford earlier this week, Spurs will have to spend big to get this done.
However, whether Daniel Levy is willing to pay top dollar for the ‘devastating’ Johnson is unknown at this time.
It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next few hours.
