Postecoglou’s Spurs rebuild continues with two more important departures

Davinson Sanchez and Tanguy Ndombele have been officially transferred from Tottenham to Galatasaray.

The English transfer window closed on Friday night, but other European transfer windows are still open, and Turkish club Galatasaray has made a move for two players who Spurs consider expendable.

While Sanchez, who has appeared twice under Ange Postecoglou this season, has secured a permanent transfer, outcast Ndombele joins Galatasaray on loan for the duration of the season with the option to make the move permanent.

Postecoglou, who has consistently stated his intention to cut a bloated first-team roster, will benefit from the exits of the pair.

In what appears to be his final game for Tottenham, Sanchez missed a penalty during the shootout loss of the Carabao Cup at Fulham.

Ndombele will join the Turkish Superliga team, fulfilling his dream of playing in the Champions League. This would be Ndombele’s third loan out from Spurs since joining the club in 2019.

Upon Postecoglou’s appointment, the French international was initially given an opportunity to restart his Tottenham career. However, an ankle injury in preseason, along with subpar timekeeping, led the Australian coach to approve Ndombele’s exit.

In a transfer said to be worth over 15 million euros (£12.8 million), Sanchez will join him at Galatasaray, ending his six-year relationship with the north London team.

Venezuelan center back After joining Tottenham from Ajax, Sanchez made 207 appearances, but his tenure at the club was rocky. His final game for the team was a loss on penalties against Fulham in the Carabao Cup, when his attempt was saved.

Davinson moves to Galatasaray

With regard to the sale of Davinson Sanchez, we have struck an agreement with Galatasaray of the Turkish Super Lig.

The defender, who represents Colombia internationally, joined us from Ajax in August 2017. He made his Premier League debut later that month in a 1-1 home draw against Burnley as a substitute before making his entire debut in a 3-0 victory against Everton the following month.

In the seasons that followed, Davinson continued to play frequently in all competitions, most notably scoring twice in an FA Cup match at Everton in February 2021. Toward the end of the previous campaign, Davinson reached the 200-appearance milestone for the Club and served as team captain in a 3-0 FA Cup fourth round victory at Preston North End in January.

With 207 appearances and five goals scored while wearing our colors, Davinson departs us.

We appreciate his service and send him our best wishes for the future.
