‘Outstanding’: Micah Richards says £21m Tottenham player was even better than Bellingham for stages last night

Following Destiny Udogie’s outstanding performance for Italy in their match against England on Tuesday, Micah Richards praised the Tottenham Hotspur star, referring to him at one point as the greatest player on the field.

Following the Three Lions’ 3-1 victory that guaranteed Gareth Southgate’s team a spot at Euro 2024, Richards gave an interview for The Rest Is Football podcast.

Following his debut for the Azzurri at the weekend, Destiny Udogie was given the opportunity to make his first start for Italy in the match.

It goes without saying that Luciano Spalletti’s team lost the match. However, Udogie was one player that performed exceptionally well during the game.

Micah Richards lauds Destiny Udogie after Italy display

According to Matthew Upson of BBC Radio Five Live, Udogie was superb for the game’s opening goal. Before the play that resulted in Gianluca Scamacca’s strike, he was the player that pushed the team forward.

Udogie has received even higher praise from Micah Richards, who claimed that no one on either side looked better than the kid.

“Before he received a warning, I thought Spurs left-back Udogie was fantastic. According to Richards, “He was their menace down that left hand side.

He looked like a wonderful signing for Tottenham, didn’t he?” Gary Lineker retorted.

He is only 20 years old; they acquired him a few seasons ago, placed him on loan, and then returned him. He was the best player on the field up until he received his yellow card, said Richards.

Tottenham have a special talent on their hands

When you think that many people will remember Tuesday’s game for Jude Bellingham’s performance, that is quite something. The home team’s fantastic Bellingham performance.

It makes a statement for Udogie to play alongside him for a portion of the game. Fans of Tottenham, meanwhile, might not be wholly shocked.

In the early going of the campaign, the 20-year-old has been outstanding. He has undoubtedly paid back the trust that Ange Postecoglou placed in him.He has possibly been the Premier League’s top left-back this year.

Right now, the £21 million transaction appears to be a magnificent piece of business. And the unsettling idea is that as Udogie plays more and more for club and country, he should only continue to improve from here.
