Lane Kiffin makes feelings known on Reggie Bush getting Heisman Trophy back
News of Reggie Bush getting his Heisman Trophy returned by the Heisman Trophy Trust went viral not long after ESPN first reported the news.
Former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, who had been vocal on the issue two months ago, sounded off about the announcement Thursday morning.
Add Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin to the list of those with an opinion on the former USC running back getting “reinstated.”
This is sooooo awesome!!! Finally,” Kiffin posted on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
ESPN reported the former USC running back will have his 2005 Heisman Trophy returned. According to the report, the Heisman Trust will announce Wednesday the formal “reinstatement” of the trophy.
Kiffin, who was the head coach at USC from 2010-2013, served as an assistant under Pete Carroll at USC from 2001-2006.
Bush forfeited his Heisman Trophy in 2010 in the wake of NCAA sanctions, which included Bush receiving improper benefits during a Trojans career that spanned from 2003 to 2005.
As part of the decision Wednesday, the Heisman Trust is returning the Heisman Trophy to Bush and a replica to USC. Bush will again be invited to all future Heisman Trophy ceremonies, beginning in the 2024 season.
