Kyrie Irving doesn’t want to be the subject of rampant NBA free agency and trade speculation this summer.

The unrestricted free agent All-Star point guard professed his distaste for all the rumors swirling around him on social media, telling people to ignore the conjecture and that he’s in no rush to decide his future.

While the rumors will continue, the Dallas Mavericks want to make his decision easier. The Mavericks acquired Irving in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets on February 6, and they don’t want to see him leave. Dallas is making re-signing Irving a top priority when free agency begins on Friday, June 30.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, league sources indicate that Dallas has no interest in gauging the market for Irving and working with another team, like the Los Angeles Lakers, to facilitate a sign-and-trade. Instead, the Mavericks “remain intent on re-signing Irving.”

After Irving sat courtside at a Western Conference Finals game between the Lakers and Denver Nuggets in Los Angeles, rumor mills concocted scenarios with Irving teaming up with LeBron James in L.A. A speculative sign-and-trade offer featuring D’Angelo Russell going to Dallas is a nonstarter for the Mavericks.
