Leeds in transfer boost to sign £16m-rated midfielder as PL club close to agreement – reports MOT Leeds News

Leeds United transfer news in Gustavo Hamer pursuit as Burnley focus on Aaron Ramsey and Sander Berge

Leeds United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer this summer, according to LeedsLive.

The Yorkshire-based media outlet claimed on Monday (7 August) that the Whites are understood to be admirers of the Brazil-born 26-year-old but are yet to make a bid for him.

Burnley turning their attention elsewhere, to Aston Villa attacker Aaron Ramsey, per the Athletic, as well as close to agreeing on a deal for Sander Berge, according to Fabrizio Romano, has given Leeds a much-needed impetus as the Clarets were in the race to secure his services.

Time for a bid?

Given the major exodus at Elland Road this summer, Leeds desperately need a new midfielder walking through the door.

They have signed Ethan Ampadu but are two midfielders short with Marc Roca and Weston McKennie leaving, as well as Brenden Aaronson who played as a number 10.

Given Tyler Adams’ links to Chelsea, they could even see another player in the middle of the park leave this summer.

Hamer represents a good option to replace Adams and according to TEAMtalk, the Whites will have to shell out £16million to sign the 26-year-old who’s opted to represent the Netherlands internationally.

That may be on the higher side but clubs often quote such prices and eventually negotiate down so this is certainly a possibility.

He will be an upgrade on the playing eleven that took on Cardiff City over the weekend and it’s time the hierarchy up their pursuit of the Dutchman
