‘LAUGHABLE’: Ian Wright make ‘hilarious’ remark over Tottenham 5-2 win against Burnley

Tottenham has had a strong start to the new Premier League campaign. Really beautifully done.

The level of play by Ange Postecoglou’s team has Spurs supporters and, to be fair, the entire football world salivating. Postecoglou’s approach has been a breath of fresh air at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after a number of years of more pragmatist football under coaches like Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Antonio Conte.

Spurs are unbeaten after four games, winning three and drawing one while scoring 11 goals and giving up four. The fact that Manchester City has a perfect record keeps them off the top of the Premier League rankings, which is not surprising.

The most recent victory for Postecoglou’s Spurs occurred at Turf Moor, when Tottenham defeated Burnley by a score of 5-2 despite trailing 1-0 after just four minutes.

James Maddison, Cristian Romero, and a hat-trick from Son Heung-min gave Spurs all three points in Lancashire and a positive momentum heading into the international break.

The quality of the play and the victories Spurs have achieved—three of their four games have been played away from home—have fans and analysts gushing.

On Saturday night’s episode of Match of the Day, a pundit had some pretty kind things to say about Tottenham, although clinched teeth. Ian Wright, a devoted Arsenal fan who frequently appears on the program, was asked by host Gary Lineker if he enjoyed watching Tottenham under Postecoglou. It’s a stressful job, therefore Postecoglou needs to get off to a strong start, according to Wright. It’s looking excellent, the guys appear to be having a great time, they have momentum, and long may it last for them (said with a smile on his face).”

Lineker and fellow commentator Jermain Jenas, a former Spurs player, both laughed out loud at that comment. Lineker then stated, “He said with tongue firmly in cheek.”
