‘Keep predicting’ – Spurs legend blast Paul Merson for his NLD claim

Paul Merson, a former Arsenal player who predicted that Tottenham will lose the North London derby, has come under fire from Graham Roberts.

Most Arsenal supporters were fairly sure that they would win the match at the Emirates, which is maybe not unexpected given Tottenham’s dismal track record there.

Merson predicted that Mikel Arteta’s team would win 5-1 and insisted that not a single Tottenham player would make the Gunners’ starting lineup (Sky Sports).

Spurs, on the other hand, put on a very mature performance on Sunday, coming back twice.

The team led by Ange Postecoglou did not waver from their stance and continued to play out from the back for the full 90 minutes, earning them a point in the process.

Merson reluctantly praised Tottenham for their performance on social media, but Roberts was obviously not having it.

The legendary Spurs player answered to Merson’s tweet as follows:

If I claimed I was certain we would get something from this game, I would be lying. Given how we are positioned, I thought a severe loss would be in store.

But after the first 25 or so minutes, when some of our players were a little uneasy, I was incredibly delighted with the maturity and spirit we displayed.

Piers Morgan slams Mikel Arteta, after Tottenham draw.

When it came to selecting Aaron Ramsdale for the Arsenal team to face Tottenham, Mikel Arteta made another risky decision. Gunners fan Piers Morgan later offered his opinion on the matter.

Mikel Arteta has come under fire from Piers Morgan once more for ‘humiliating’ Aaron Ramsdale by signing David Raya.

The former Sheffield United and Bournemouth player has recently seen himself drop in importance at Arsenal. The last three games, he came off the bench to replace Raya, who now seems to be Arteta’s starting quarterback.

Ramsdale appears ready to start the Gunners’ Carabao Cup third-round match against Raya’s parent club Brentford on Wednesday. Despite this, Arsenal supporter Morgan has stated that Ramsdale’s involvement in the incident is disgraceful and that Raya is not a superior goalkeeper.

I don’t like the goalie position, he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. I don’t think it’s a good idea, and I have no idea how people are thinking. Arteta promised to rotate them, but he hasn’t done so.

“Raya made one outstanding save against Spurs, but he contributed to the opening goal. I noticed Ramsdale applauding him on the save, but I don’t understand why he was demoted and why he is being treated so poorly.

“Arteta must decide who is No. 1 and will stick with that choice. It is detrimental to defenders. Although I believe Raya to be very good, I do not believe Ramsdale, who was a vital player last season, has significantly improved.

Prior to the 1-0 victory at Everton, Morgan had criticized Arteta for his initial choice to substitute Raya for Ramsdale, claiming that Arteta had “humiliated” the former Sheffield United and Bournemouth goalkeeper.

He is not the only person who has voiced concern about the goalkeeping situation at Arsenal right now. According to former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, if Ramsdale is unable to force himself back into the lineup, he may have to find a new team.

“I think he [Ramsdale] will be [leaving in January], if he got the chance at a decent club and Arsenal were happy with that,” he remarked in a Sky Sports interview. He hasn’t performed poorly for Arsenal. He has performed much better than many people anticipated.

“I believe Arsenal will consider it and believe they can get a few pounds for him. It can be a January-related occurrence.

Raya, the replacement for Ramsdale, has three games under his belt for Arsenal and has so far kept clean sheets against PSV Eindhoven and Everton. In his five appearances for the Gunners thus far this season across all competitions, Ramsdale has one clean sheet.

The newly signed contract, which the four-time England goalie only signed back in August, has three years remaining with the possibility of an additional season.
