James Maddison transfer talks ‘opened’ by Tottenham as fresh Newcastle claim emerges

Tottenham increases their summertime effort to capture James Maddison, according to the most recent Leicester City transfer news from LeicestershireLive.

Spurs are apparently stepping up their pursuit of James Maddison and have reportedly begun negotiations with Leicester City.

One of the well-known players anticipated to leave City this summer as a result of the team’s relegation to the Championship is the England international. With regard to whether talisman Harry Kane remains at the club, Spurs are anticipated to have a busy summer.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, incoming manager Ange Postecoglou has reportedly already asked the Spurs board to pursue Maddison. The 26-year-old is also a longtime favorite of Newcastle.

The Magpies saw two offers turned down by City last summer, and will continue to battle for his signature. But it is Spurs who are keen to get ahead of the competition with talkSPORT reporting that talks are now taking place between the two clubs over a possible transfer.

Leicester have valued Maddison at about £60million, with only a year remaining on his current deal. The report suggests the midfielder’s asking price may be too much for Newcastle’s Saudi owners.

The reason being is that the club is still limited in what they can spend this summer due to Financial Fair Play regulations. As for Spurs, owner Daniel Levy has outlined his plans for next season.
