‘I’VE BEEN HEARING’: RIO FERDINAND QUESTIONS WHY TOTTENHAM YOUNGSTER HASN’T COME THROUGH YET

Rio Ferdinand has questioned why Dane Scarlett hasn’t announced himself yet on the big stage for Tottenham Hotspur.

With Harry Kane out of the door, Tottenham will now be on the lookout for a number nine to lead them forward in years to come, or several attacking players to fill the goals he has taken to Bayern Munich.

A Spurs fan called for Dane Scarlett to be given a chance by Ange Postecoglou, with Ferdinand stating ‘I have been hearing about him for a long time’, as he told Vibe with Five.

From Tottenham’s opening two Premier League games this season, they have created a host of chances and scored four goals in this new-look Postecoglou system.

But none of their attackers have opened their accounts yet, with Richarlison currently leading the line – he was slammed by Gabby Agbonlahor.

In the meantime, Scarlett hasn’t even made the matchday squad, with Ferdinand sharing his brief thoughts on the 19-year-old.

“I have been hearing about him for time and he hasn’t come through yet,” said Ferdinand. “I have been hearing his name for a long time.”

Time to push Scarlett forward

If there ever was an opportunity to hand Scarlett a chance for senior minutes, then this is it because Spurs are still in the very early stages of the Postecoglou era.

This is where fans would happily accept bumps on the road, more rough edges than smooth ones because they understand that their new coach is trying to build.

So, why not try and throw Scarlett into the deep end? Especially given that Richarlison has only scored one Premier League goal for the club.
