‘I have to say’: Gary Neville left shocked by transfer news involving Tottenham today
The final week of the summer transfer season has been tremendously active for Tottenham Hotspur.
Brennan Johnson appears to be on the way to Spurs, while Conor Gallagher may possibly be on their radar.
Tottenham has also made a number of outgoings, notably on the day of the transfer deadline.
Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon have both left Spurs on loan.
Reguilon has made a significant move by joining Manchester United through at least January.
The loan agreement for the Tottenham player features a break clause at the beginning of the following year, claims Sky Sports.
When Reguilon joined the Red Devils, Gary Neville voiced his amazement at the move.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, he said: “I have to say that I was a little bit surprised why were going for Reguilon.
“Of course we have the issue with Luke Shaw which means it is a stop gap and a temporary measure, they have left themselves short.”

Reguilon has long since outlived his usefulness at Tottenham. Since April 2022, he hasn’t participated in a competitive game with the Spurs.
The Tottenham fullback played 11 La Liga games while on loan at Atletico Madrid during the previous season.
Man United moved for the Spurs periphery player as a result of some concerns at left-back.
Due to injuries, Erik ten Hag is now playing without Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia for an extended length of time.
It’s intriguing that Spurs have made the decision to bolster a squad that may ultimately be a direct rival for the top four.
Nonetheless, The Athletic has reported that Man United will cover all of Reguilon’s wages, so Spurs will save money there.

As the transfer deadline approaches today with the possibility of spending £134 million, Tottenham supporters will be hoping Daniel Levy continues his trend of closing deals in the transfer market after the deadline has passed. Since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich, Spurs have remained silent in the market despite having £100 million to spend on reinforcements.

Schurrs is expected to fetch roughly £34 million, a price that Tottenham should easily be able to pay given the sale of Kane. Conor Gallagher of Chelsea has surfaced as a potential target for Tottenham, who are also trying to strengthen their midfield prior to the transfer deadline.
The Blues have made it clear that they won’t even consider selling Gallagher unless their rumoured £50 million asking price is fulfilled; West Ham previously had a £40 million offer rejected. Gallagher, a young midfielder with the versatility to play in a variety of positions, fits the description of the type of player Postecoglou is looking for in the transfer market.
After Chelsea’s acquisitions of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, there is significant question regarding the position of the England international inside the Chelsea hierarchy. Last week, when Chelsea defeated Luton 3-0, Gallagher and Caicedo started in midfield. Lavia was not a member of the squad.
Because of Gallagher’s importance to the team, Pochettino has made it clear that he wants to keep him at the club. However, Tottenham might succeed in stealing the midfielder from their London rivals.

Johnson, who is 22 years old, is still in the prime of his career and may give Tottenham’s offense a new impetus. All three transactions are expected to cost around £134 million. There will be plenty of transactions to be completed on deadline day, so expect Spurs to be busy.
