According to Michail Antonio, Richarlison deserves praise for his recent game-changing display while wearing the Tottenham Hotspur uniform.
The West Ham United striker has recently been under fire for openly making fun of Tottenham’s club-record transfer and the fact that he previous season accrued more Premier League cautions than goals.
But Michail Antonio was sure to emphasize once more that Richarlison is a “quality” player, as he has always claimed, and that he deserves praise for his outstanding performance over the weekend, as he remarked on The Footballer’s Football Show.
As Ange Postecoglou’s team defeated Sheffield United with goals in the 98th and 100th minutes, Richarlison came off the bench to score and provide an assist.
This Spurs team is performing admirably under their new manager, as evidenced by the fact that it was the newest victory in Premier League history.
After Harry Kane left, many people presumably anticipated some type of conflict, but there hasn’t been any.
Antonio reacts to Richarlison’s latest performance for Tottenham
“You know what, my boy, my boy, Richy, Richarlison,” remarked Antonio. Yes, leave the bench. One support. One aim.
“I’m delighted for the boy. Even though it was like six months ago, I said something and, in the end, everyone is still talking about it, so I am truly pleased for him. Even though I stated it, it was a joke. I mentioned that he is a good player. He is a quality player, as I have always stated.
But perhaps he shouldn’t have removed his shirt. I won’t go back on what I said.
After traveling with Brazil, having a difficult time, and declaring that he would return and undergo therapy, the child came off the bench and scored and assisted. He has likely completed his rehabilitation on the field by this point. He might even no longer require therapy sessions.
“Getting that assist and goal could have done wonders for himself, so I applaud him.”
Who will score more goals – Richarlison or Antonio?
Antonio has two goals after five Premier League games, both coming in West Ham United’s victories over Chelsea and Brighton.
While Richarlison has just recently made his debut, it will be intriguing to see how this season’s game-changing event will benefit the £90,000 per week Spurs star (Spotrac).
If the former Everton player can’t utilize the Sheffield United game to drive his performances at Spurs, then Ange Postecoglou will have a real battle on his shoulders in attempting to get him back to his best. Surely it has to have some sort of impact.
