‘I am Sick and Tired’ Celtic winger to leave in January
When it comes to outgoings, Celtic has been highly active throughout the January transfer window.
Rumors of teams in England, Germany, and France showing interest in Liel Abada and the announcement that Atletico Madrid has made a bid for Matt O’Riley—who will initially be loaned to the team with an obligation to sign him in the summer—have dominated the headlines.
Talk about another player maybe departing has been lost in the shuffle amidst all of this. However, that is a lot like his current role on the squad.
With Nicolas Kuhn’s arrival this month, Mikey Johnston has fallen even lower down the ladder. It appears that he is currently considering leaving Parkhead through a loan arrangement.
According to Football Scotland, Johnston is awaiting Celtic’s approval before leaving on loan this month. It’s said that West Brom is eager to sign him. Brendan Rodgers gives the player the all-clear.

Johnston also played on loan at Portugal’s Vitoria SC during the previous campaign. And it appears that in the latter part of this campaign, he will follow suit.
It seems like this was his final opportunity to leave his mark at Celtic in many ways. Even if he did contribute in certain constructive ways, he was insufficient to play a significant role in Rodgers’ goals. It is currently unknown if a loan transfer to West Brom will happen.
With the choices Celtic currently have on the wings, Johnston’s departure wouldn’t be a huge setback. Abada, however, is not the same, and the Hoops need to make sure the winger stays at Parkhead past the January transfer window.
