That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who says Everton are currently leading the race for Elanga’s signature and negotiations are now underway between the two clubs.

Everton are clearly in the market for wide attackers this summer and have been heavily linked with a move for Leeds’ Gnonto in recent weeks.

As per reports from the Italian press, their interest had even gone as far to having an £18.8 million bid accepted for Gnonto, though that was quickly debunked by the English media.

In fact, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Everton may be priced out of a move for Gnonto this summer due to Leeds’ desire to keep him and current valuation.

With four years left on his contract and no relegation release clause, Leeds are in a good position to keep Gnonto, or place a huge price tag on his head.

As such, Everton appear to now be looking at potential alternatives and Elanga has emerged as their number one option at this stage.

The 21-year-old has been out of favour at Old Trafford throughout the entirety of Erik ten Hag’s reign, and could be available for a much cheaper price.

According to the Liverpool Echo, bids of around the £10 million mark are likely to be enough to tempt Man United into selling Elanga, which is considerably more fitting to Everton’s budget.

The Toffees have also been linked with a move for Arnaut Danjuma, and if they are able to get both, that surely ends their interest in Gnonto.
