‘Here we go’: Fabrizio Romano says £30m Tottenham and West Ham target is now joining another club

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were very keen to sign Elye Wahi this summer, but it looks like he’s about to join RC Lens in the coming days.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano on X, who revealed just a few moments ago that the talented Montpellier striker has agreed to join the Ligue 1 side this summer.

Tottenham and West Ham target Elye Wahi is joining RC Lens

Elye Wahi has been a wanted man since the window opened two months ago, and Tottenham and West Ham were just two of many clubs keen to sign him.

The talented 20-year-old striker had an amazing season last time out. He scored 19 goals and provided six assists in 33 appearances, which is an outstanding return for some so young.

Just last week, after it became clear that Harry Kane was leaving Tottenham, Foot Mercato revealed that Spurs were very keen to sign Wahi.

The same outlet then claimed this week that the striker wants to sign for West Ham United.

Now, however, it looks like he has snubbed both London clubs to stay in France and join Lens.

Romano just tweeted: “Elye Wahi to RC Lens, here we go! Deal in place for €35m (£30m) package as reported by French sources — it’s done between clubs!”

“RC Lens: Personal terms agreed on five-year deal with medical tests booked later today. Several clubs wanted Wahi but he’ll play UCL football at Lens.”

It’s now back to square one for both Tottenham and West Ham.

Both clubs need a new striker having parted ways with Harry Kane and Gianluca Scamacca respectively, and they’re both running out of time.

There are less than two weeks left in the transfer window, and if David Moyes and Ange Postecoglou really want to bring in a new striker, they need to move fast.

Sadly for both clubs, the talented Wahi will no longer be an option.

convinced’: £20m striker is now ready and willing to join Tottenham – journalist

Harry Kane has left the north London club, and now a replacement is needed.

Of course, replacing Kane was never going to be an easy task, but Tottenham have been sounding out a few options.

One player who has been consistently linked is Gent’s Gift Orban.

The £20m forward has been sounded out by Spurs ahead of a potential move, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, the attacker is more than happy with the personal terms that have been presented to him by Spurs.

Personal terms sorted

Jones shared what he knows about Orban.

“I expected progress to be made yesterday on that for Tottenham, but I’m not sure it was. That doesn’t look brilliant, but they were first on the scene and they are the most interested. He is convinced of the personal package they have put in front of him, so that is going to be fine, it’s just about agreeing a deal with Gent, so let’s see what happens there,” Jones said.

Get it done

Tottenham appear to have an agreement in place with Orban to come to Tottenham, now they just have to agree a fee with Gent.

According to The Athletic, Spurs believe this deal is doable for £20m, and that could well prove to be great value given that Orban has been scoring for fun over the past 12 months and he’s a great fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system.

Indeed, the Australian loves speedy attackers who can get in behind with ease, and Orban ticks that box to a serious degree.

Tottenham should push this transfer through as soon as possible.
