‘He was late’: Ange Postecoglou says 27-year-old Tottenham player has learnt his lesson

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has praised Yves Bissouma for the way he trains.

Ange Postecoglou stated on talkSPORT (11:44am, September 12, 2023) that Yves Bissouma, a defensive midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur and a Mali international, particularly impressed him in training when he first took over at Spurs.

Postecoglou left Scottish Premiership champions Celtic and was hired as Tottenham’s manager in the summer of 2023.

The 27-year-old’s performance in training has also been acknowledged by him.

Bissouma was allegedly late for training one day, according to Postecoglou, but he hasn’t made that error since.

For Tottenham thus far this year, Bissouma has played in four Premier League games.

Bissouma was present from the beginning, according to Postecoglou.

“I sort of grabbed him and told him, ‘You can be a leader in this group,’ because of the way he was training, the first three or four sessions with the younger boys.

“I previously heard about his talent, but I was surprised by his training regimen.

He was late the following morning, so I told him that a leader always arrives on time.

And ever since, he has behaved well. As a result, there are always lessons to be learned.

Yves Bissouma flourishing at Tottenham now

Yves Bissouma is currently flourishing under manager Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur and is performing exceptionally well.

Under former manager Antonio Conte last season, Bissouma had trouble getting regular playing time for Spurs.

Injury problems also existed.

In the summer of 2022, Bissouma made the switch from Tottenham to Premier League opponent Brighton & Hove Albion.

In the Premier League for Tottenham last year, the defensive midfielder made 10 starts and 13 substitute appearances.

The Mali defensive midfielder last season also made three substitute appearances for the North London team in the UEFA Champions League.

Right now, things are going nicely for both Bissouma and Spurs.

It will be intriguing to see if the defensive midfielder can continue to perform at his current high level in the upcoming days and weeks.

Tottenham’s primary goal for the current campaign is to place in the top four of the Premier League standings.
