‘He does’: Postecoglou says £180,000-a-week player will not leave Tottenham Hotspur
ANGE POSTECOGLOU SAYS £180,000-A-WEEK PLAYER WILL NOT LEAVE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Ange Postecoglou has told Football.London that Ivan Perisic has a future at Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Celtic boss has raved about the 34-year-old, who can operate as a left-back or as a left wing-back.
The Croatia international joined Tottenham on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 after leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season.
It was then Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte who brought Perisic to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Perisic made 34 appearances in the Premier League for Spurs last season.
The former Inter star scored one goal and gave eight assists in those games.
Perisic is under contract at Tottenham until the summer of 2024.
The Daily Mail reported last month that the £180,000-a-week (SalarySport) star has been told that he is free to leave if he wants to, but it seems that Postecoglou wants him to stay.
Ange Postecoglou positive about Tottenham Hotspur’s Ivan Perisic
Postecoglou said about Perisic: “He’s been playing, and playing very well.
“I’ve followed his career for a long time, he’s an absolute professional, the way he looks after himself, and he’s had a really strong pre-season, in games and training.
“So he does have a future with me and the club.”
We believe that Tottenham should keep Perisic.
The winger/wing-back has just one year left on his current contract at Tottenham.
It is hard to see Spurs get much money for the 34-year-old now.
Perisic is a very experienced player who did well for Spurs last season.
We think that the Croatian is an asset for Spurs.
Now, Postecoglou may not start Perisic in each and every game this season, but the Tottenham manager could be able to rely on him to do a very good job whenever he plays.
