‘Hasn’t trained’ – Ange Postecoglou provides surprising update on two fantastic players ahead of Chelsea clash

Prior to Monday’s match against Chelsea, Ange Postecoglou gave an update on team news during this afternoon’s press conference at Hotspur Way.

For the first time since taking over Chelsea, the game will mark the return of former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It will be interesting to see how the Argentine is received by the North London supporters.

As per protocol, the Spurs team’s availability to the media is disclosed prior to their matchup with Pochettino’s team.

Spurs injury update vs Chelsea

A left-backRodrigo Bentancur’s return, who played the final few minutes of the game in his first appearance since sustaining an ACL injury back in February, was a welcome boost for the team as Destiny Udogie was absent from last week’s 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace.

Chelsea enters the game fresh off a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Blackburn Rovers, while a win for Spurs would give them a commanding 17-point lead over their opponents at the top of the Premier League standings.

When asked about Udogie, Postecoglou responded on the team’s official X channel, saying, “Yeah, we’ll see how he progresses obviously, we’ve got a few days before the Monday game.” He’s making progress on it, and we’ll evaluate it when it gets closer.

“Everyone else is good. Ben Davies hasn’t trained with the team yet and has a slight knock, so it’s unlikely for Monday, but there are still a few days left.”

Three Tottenham players named in Premier League Team of the Month

Tottenham Hotspur finished the month of October at the top of the Premier League standings. It’s safe to say that the Lilywhites have had a successful month, as evidenced by the fact that three of their players were selected for WhoScored’s Team of the Month.

Since moving to North London this summer, Ange Postecoglou has quickly incorporated his attacking football style, and the Australian manager’s style has produced equally impressive on-field results.

After defeating Luton Town 1-0 prior to the international break, Fulham 2-0, and Crystal Palace 2-1 in the final week of October, Spurs emerged victorious from three games.

It should come as no surprise that three Tottenham players were chosen for WhoScored.com’s Premier League Team of the Month for October given their stellar play, clean sheets, and maximum points scored.

Who made the Team of the Month?

After adding two more in October, Guglielmo Vicario now leads all goalkeepers in the Premier League in clean sheets. The Italian goalkeeper received an average rating of 7.12 for the month from WhoScored.

Cristian Romero has been playing well in front of Vicario and appears much more composed than he did in the previous season. Although having Micky van de Ven next to him has undoubtedly been beneficial, the Argentine center-half (average score of 7.58) is the winner.

Spurs captain Heung-min Son, who scored an average rating of 7.68, is finally in the lead. During the three games in October, the South Korean player scored two goals and provided an assist (Transfermarkt).

Over the past month, the entire Spurs team has been outstanding. They have demonstrated a more tenacious and diligent side to their game, which has allowed them to grind out some challenging victories. One could argue that other players should have been included in the Team of the Month, but let’s avoid becoming conceited.
