Harry Kane has private talks with Tottenham staff after hinting at transfer return

After being given permission to reunite with his former Tottenham teammates and staff on Tuesday at Enfield, Harry Kane has said goodbye to them.

Prior to England’s Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy, the 30-year-old, who left Spurs to join Bayern Munich in August for £86.4 million, visited the club’s practice facility one more. Before facing the Azzurri, Gareth Southgate’s team chose to stay closer to London after training at St George’s Park in the lead-up to their 1-0 triumph over Australia at Wembley.

Kane came with the team at Tottenham’s training facility, where he was seen getting ready for the match alongside the rest of the England team. Kane was able to reunite with his former Spurs teammates just as the Three Lions were about to depart for the national stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

Kane was able to say goodbye to the team he had worked with over the years and see the first-team training grounds as Tottenham ramped up their preparations for Monday’s home game against Fulham. Although numerous players, like Heung min-Son, were still on international service with their respective countries, Kane was able to reconnect with his former teammates through the process.

Kane left his childhood club to join Bayern during the summer transfer window, and that was more than two months ago. On the eve of their season-opening match against Brentford, Spurs reluctantly cashed in on their hero, the England captain, who had scored 30 Premier League goals the previous campaign.

Tottenham has performed well under Ange Postecoglou despite losing Kane, and they presently lead the Premier League. They are one of just two teams without a loss in the league with 20 points from their opening eight games, with rivals from north London Arsenal being the other.

When questioned about Spurs’ form last week, Kane, who left in an effort to finally win some hardware, responded: “It’s nice to see. The manager is doing a terrific job for them with the manner they are playing, as I believe I’ve said before. After the previous several years, the supporters are solidly behind the squad, and it’s just what they needed.

“Spurs and the Premier League are two things I’ll never ignore. There is still a long way to go, but as the manager noted, there is no reason why the supporters shouldn’t be enthusiastic and pleased with how things are progressing. I’m hoping they can go on.

“I have been open about my support for Tottenham throughout my career, and I hope they succeed. Tottenham is the only team in the Premier League that I would like to win.

“Also, I have to be respectful to Bayern Munich and of course, the fans know I will always have a soft spot for Spurs – there is no question about that – but I have got to put all my attention on Bayern Munich and to make us as successful as possible.”

Following Daniel Levy’s confirmation on a supporters’ forum that Tottenham had included a buy-back clause in Kane’s sale to Bayern, those remarks were made.
