‘GO OUT AND SIGN HIM’: SKY SPORTS PUNDIT TELLS TOTTENHAM TO BUY 27-YEAR-OLD STRIKER

Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson has said that Tottenham Hotspur should try to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney as a replacement for Harry Kane.

The former Tottenham Hotspur defender has said on Sky Sports News (12:18pm, August 12, 2023) that Spurs should go all out and sign Ivan Toney from London and Premier League rivals Brentford.

Dawson has noted that Toney is not available to play until January due to a ban.

The pundit said: “Look, he can’t play at this moment in time. I said he could go up to Manchester United. Ivan Toney. Go out and sign him.”

Tottenham Hotspur unlikely to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney

In our opinion, Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford either in the summer transfer window or in January 2024.

First of all, Spurs are unlikely to pay a lot of money to bring in a player who is not going to play until January.

And when Toney does get back in January, we cannot expect the 27-year-old to hit the ground running.

It is likely to take the striker a few weeks to get fully match fit.

Could Tottenham really wait that long?

Moreover, Toney himself might not be keen on a move to Tottenham after just returning from a ban.

The striker might want to end the season with Brentford and finish his time at the Bees on a positive note and then leave next summer.

Toney has made 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The striker has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in those games.
