According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid has recently made contact with Arthur Vermeeren, a young player from Royal Antwerp who has been strongly linked to a transfer to Tottenham.
Over the past eighteen months, Vermeeren has become one of the best young players in Belgian football, and his reputation has only grown after his performances in the Champions League this year.
The Spurs are among the teams that have scouted the teenager this season, according to numerous reports that have surfaced over the past few months (90 min).
The Sun even claimed earlier this month that Tottenham has surpassed teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund in the running for the midfield player’s signature.
Over the weekend, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reiterated that Spurs are continuing to watch the £25m-rated sensation, with the Lilywhites reported to be investigating singing the kid and loaning back to Antwerp until the summer.

Romano has now revealed on social media that Vermeeren has been scouted by Atletico several times this season.
He said that the men of Diego Simeone have now gotten in touch with Antwerp to inquire about the terms of the transfer and to request updates on any further developments.
The journalist went on to say that the Spanish team is just one of many European teams still interested in the 18-year-old.
The news that Vermeeren is wanted all throughout Europe is undoubtedly not shocking. One would assume that Tottenham would have already contacted the midfielder’s representation and Antwerp about a deal if they had determined that the 18-year-old was their best option to Conor Gallagher.
