Tottenham

Exceptional’ 22-year-old has now agreed to sign for Tottenham

Tottenham are moving closer to making yet another signing, this time in the form of Dutch defender Micky van de Ven.

As the summer progressed, a number of clubs began to show interest in Van de Ven, and Tottenham currently appears to be the front-runner.

The defender has reached an agreement with Tottenham and is prepared to relocate to north London, according to Sky Sports, who reference John Cross of The Mirror.

According to Sky, all that is left to do is for Tottenham to finalize the transaction by agreeing on the purchase price and payment terms with Wolsburg.

The ‘outstanding’ Netherlands defender is anticipated to cost Tottenham a cool £30 million, and Liverpool and Arsenal have both shown interest.

Tottenham are making big moves in the window already. There is a clear intent to back Ange Postecoglou and after signing James Maddison last week, Van de Ven looks to be following.

No messing about

Only a few days into July, and this transfer window is already in high gear.

Tottenham is making significant attempts to make sure that their new manager has the appropriate players in place early on despite the fact that they are not playing any games this summer.

Van de Ven is undoubtedly regarded highly and prepared to move up to the Premier League. He is a fantastic age for Spurs at 22, and spending £30 million on him should be a wise decision.

At times, Daniel Levy has faced criticism. However, he does seem to be making things happen for Tottenham and their new coach right now.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to ramp up their interest in signing Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo this week.

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo looks set to become Tottenham Hotspur’s next transfer target in the coming days.

That is according to Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna, who claims that Tottenham are set to move for Adarabioyo.

Aouna claims that Spurs are now expected to make contact with Fulham this week to try and thrash out a deal for Adarabioyo.

It may seem strange that this all-London transfer is being reported on over in France.

Monaco are thought to be interested in Adarabioyo though, so his name is doing the rounds over there.

Tottenham are pressing ahead with a deal for Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven but would still like another defender.

Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga could go whilst Clement Lenglet surely won’t be returning from Barcelona.

Adding a talented homegrown defender will be a keen focus for Tottenham and Adarabioyo could be their man.

Ange Postecoglou may already know about Tosin Adarabioyo

Adarabioyo came up in the Manchester City ranks but only played eight games for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Still, Adarabioyo was a highly-rated prospect at City during Ange Postecoglou’s time in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos.

The J1 League side are part of the City Football Group, meaning Adarabioyo may well have been on the Australian’s radar for a little while.

The situation now seems right for Tottenham to make their move.

Adarabioyo is a giant defender at 6ft 5in tall, a completely different presence to Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.

Adarabioyo also has a great turn of pace, whilst his contract situation – he is free to leave Fulham in 2024 – is very appealing.

The London Evening Standard claimed in June that talks over a new deal have collapsed with Adarabioyo so far unwilling to sign a new contract.

The 25-year-old fits a similar mould to Van de Ven; tall, very fast and with untapped potential for Tottenham to try and extract.

Add in the homegrown aspect and Adarabioyo ticks so many boxes for Tottenham in this new era under Postecoglou.

Hailed as an ‘exceptional talent’ by his former Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray, Adarabioyo could trade West London for North London this summer.
