Eric Dier spotted saying something rather sad to the Spurs cameras at Hotspur Way
After the center-back’s remarks to the Spurs TV team this week, several Tottenham supporters felt bad for Eric Dier.
With 361 appearances for Tottenham over his eight and a half years in North London, Dier has been a remarkable servant to the team.
The center-back has seen a lot of ups and downs during that period and played a significant role in the club’s title challenges in the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons under Mauricio Pochettino.
The England international, however, has come to be widely mocked in recent years due to some of the defensive mistakes he has made.
The 29-year-old’s current Spurs contract expires in the summer of 2019, and it has been widely speculated that he may leave the organization in January (The Times).

In a light-hearted remark to the Spurs TV video team, Dier—who has yet to play a minute under Ange Postecoglou this season—made fun of the fact that he had fallen to the sidelines at the club.
When the players arrived at Hotspur Way, the crew was recording them, and the defender playfully stated, “You don’t need to film me, it’s okay. I am aware that you won’t make use of it.
According to talkSPORT, a number of Spurs supporters have admitted on social media that they feel awful for Dier that it has come to this given the service he has provided to the team.
I’ve long maintained that Dier (and many other players, for that matter) receive too little respect, and many fans have chosen to rewrite history by implying that he’s always been bad for us, which is untrue.
The 29-year-old comes across as a highly clever person with a lot of perspective about things, therefore I am confident that his mental health is great. I don’t think he bases his opinion of himself on what others have to say about him online.
