Done deal: Fabrizio Romano says Leeds United signs player on loan from tottenham

Tottenham defender has joined Leeds United on loan immediately with an agreement completed, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday (9 August) that all transfer formalities have now been completed with both teams and the player agreeing to the deal which will see the Welsh international join the ranks at Elland Road for the 2023/24 campaign.

Mike McGrath from the Telegraph reported that Rodon would be set to join the Whites on Tuesday (8 August) but all the intricate details of the transfer still needed to be finalised.

Explaining the deal, Romano wrote: “Agreement completed between Tottenham and Leeds United for Joe Rodon. The centre-back joins LUFC on loan until the end of the season.

“Spurs hope to find solution also for Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez in the next days/weeks.”

Deal done

Leeds have become desperate for some defensive depth in the last few days, especially after it was confirmed that Liam Cooper would be set to miss the next two months of action having sustained a foot injury as he scored in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City.

The pace in which this deal for Rodon has progressed speaks volumes about how the 49ers are set to back Daniel Farke this summer as they have gone out and signed him as a central defender within days of Cooper sustaining the injury.

Hopefully, a deal for a new forward can be completed at a similar pace, with a striker next on the Whites’ agenda as they look to add more goals to their side, especially with Patrick Bamford’s questionable injury record.

But focusing on Rodon, you’d imagine that this is a deal that could be turned into a permanent deal if all parties are interested at the conclusion of the current season, with Rodon on the fringes of the Spurs side and another two years on his deal in North London, he may be available for the right price
