Tottenham Hotspur are close to signing defender Clement Lenglet, with a new report sharing why Barcelona are looking to move the player on once more.

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, who thinks Spurs want a new defender and forward, Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy may be busy in the last days of the transfer market.

Lenglet has been strongly linked with a move back to north London this summer despite the club having already spent £165 million on eight new players.

Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano recently stated: “A move is one to watch.” He also added: “A move is one to watch.” Last season, Spurs paid about £115,000 of his £200,000-per-week wage during a loan agreement from Barcelona.

“Clement Lenglet could return to Tottenham. At the moment it’s not concrete or advanced, but in the final days of the window, in case Barcelona can’t find another solution for Lenglet, it could be one to watch.”

A new update indicates that an agreement to return the Frenchman to England might soon be reached.

Despite being officially registered as a La Liga player on Thursday, Lenglet is still reportedly planning to leave the Catalan powerhouses, according to Spanish publication AS. In order to move through with a deal to acquire Joao Cancelo from Manchester City, it is thought that Barcelona must let go of a few players from their roster.

Lenglet’s fate, according to the source, will be in the Premier League and “more specifically Tottenham,” though they don’t specify whether it would be a permanent arrangement or another loan move.

Hugo Lloris praised Lenglet, a 6’1″ defender who made 35 appearances for Spurs in all competitions last season, calling him “extremely strong” and a “high level player” after he joined.
