‘Brendan Rodgers doesn’t fancy him’: Andy Walker thinks £3m Celtic star will leave this month

Though Gustaf Lagerbielke only joined Celtic in the summer, the writing has been on the wall for him for some time.

When Gustaf Lagerbielke scored the game-winning goal for Celtic in the Champions League back in December, he was wheeling away in joy and coming off the bench.

Many wondered at the time if that was the center back’s turning point, but Brendan Rodgers plainly didn’t think so.

According to Andy Walker, who spoke with Go Radio, “it’s obvious that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t fancy him,” thus Walker believes the 23-year-old will be heading for the Parkhead exit door during the January transfer window.

The £3 million acquisition has only played 571 minutes of football for Celtic so far this season; his last game as a starter was back in September.

Although the player in question may contend that he hasn’t been given a fair opportunity, Serie A clubs are actively seeking him based on the minutes he has played and the victory at Ibrox.

However, Andy Walker won’t be shocked if Gustaf Lagerbielke is the one to depart as there haven’t been any significant departures from Celtic thus far.

Gustaf Lagerbielke’s future at Celtic

“You brought up that goal he scored (in the UCL), and I felt that might have been the catalyst for him to begin his Celtic career,” Walker remarked.

However, it is obvious that Brendan Rodgers dislikes him. You question if he was responsible for introducing him to the club in the first place.

“Once more, you would anticipate that Celtic would sign someone before the end of the month.”

Celtic beat Buckie Thistle

As previously noted, Lagerbielke’s luck has long been in doubt, but his victory over Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup on Sunday all but confirmed it.

Despite his injury, Cameron Carter-Vickers was unable to contribute to the team’s progress in the Scottish Cup, not even as a substitute.

With Ross County visiting Parkhead on Saturday and then traveling to Aberdeen, it was an excellent game for the team to start the season following the winter break.

The Bhoys’ performances and results started to improve before the break, and you’re expecting that they will soar in the upcoming months.
