Big arrival from Tottenham could cause ‘big problems’ at club – Affecting ‘salary balance’

Galatasaray acquired Tanguy Ndombélé and Davinson Sánchez from Tottenham on Monday in an effort to quickly add them to their Champions League roster.

The latter was given away for free in exchange for a cost of about €9 million, while the former is on a loan with a €15 million buyout option.

While signing two big-name stars and getting rid of undesired players is fantastic news for Galatasaray and Tottenham, respectively, Takvim claims that the center-back’s arrival in particular could result in “big problems” for the Turkish club.

This is stated by the site because the top defenders from last year, Victor Nelsson and Abdülkerim Bardakci, are supposedly paid much less than the Colombian, who is expected to get €3.2 million annually.

The Dane reportedly pockets €1.3m/year, while the Turkey international is on €800k/year, meaning there are now ‘significant deviations’ that have ‘occurred in the salary balance within the team’.

The same applies for Ndombélé, who is on a similar €3.2m as Sánchez, and winger Tetê, who is earning €2.8m, while Wilfried Zaha and Hakim Ziyech have reported wages of €4.3m and €3.5m respectively.

The focus on Sánchez, however, seems to stem from how important Nelsson and Abdülkerim were last year, and how little they are on compared to their new teammate, which is why they state it’s ‘especially’ his arrival and Tetê’s that could be an issue.

And that’s before they touch upon Sacha Boey, who was linked with moves to the Premier League this summer, who is on €400k/year.

In short, it is feared that the current situation, stemming from all these star signings, ‘will cause trouble’ at the club.

‘Very strange’: Spurs were desperate to sell 26-year-old who failed to impress Postecoglou this summer – journalist

Dean Jones, a journalist, asserts that Tottenham Hotspur was eager to get rid of this summer.

According to Jones, Ndombele didn’t impress Ange Postecoglou during preseason, according to GiveMeSport.

Ndombele, who was unable to gain a transfer during the British transfer season, sealed a move to Galatasaray this week.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a season-long loan agreement with the Turkish club, but Galatasaray reportedly has the option to purchase him for £12.8 million next summer.

Ndombele’s struggles at Tottenham are well known, as he has now failed to make an impression under five different permanent Spurs managers.

And Jones claims that Postecoglou was desperate to offload the Frenchman this summer.

Tottenham were desperate to sell Ndombele

Jones described Ndombele’s circumstance at Spurs as “very strange” in an interview with GiveMeSport.

The journalist remarked, “The Ndombele issue has been really peculiar. He ought to be one of the greatest midfielders in the Premier League, but he has never been able to seize the chances.

“In the end, I’ve been told that Tottenham was eager to get rid of him.

He was given a second chance by Ange Postecoglou this summer to establish himself and demonstrate that he might have a future at the club, but he failed to impress, and they just didn’t have place for passengers, so he was forced to move on.

Ndombele was acquired by Tottenham for a club-record £63 million in 2019, when they acquired him from Lyon.

It’s fair to conclude that neither Spurs nor Ndombele have benefited from the trade, and it is obvious that Postecoglou didn’t have any future ambitions for him.

Spurs are probably hoping Galatasaray will exercise their option to sign the former Lyon star on a long-term deal next summer.

Ndombele has been loaned out three times in the past four years, and it appears that Postecoglou will remain at Tottenham, so there won’t be a chance for him to return.
