BBC PUNDIT NAMES THE TOTTENHAM PLAYER WHO WAS ‘OUTSTANDING’ VS MANCHESTER UNITED

The former Tottenham Hotspur player has said on BBC Sport that Yves Bissouma was “different class” against Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League game on Saturday evening.Spurs got the better of United 2-0 at home in the league today.

Pape Matar Sarr scored the first goal for Tottenham in the 49th minute.

An own goal from defender Lisandro Martinez on 83 minutes saw Tottenham wrap up the three points.

Praise for Yves Bissouma for Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United

Bissouma started the match for Tottenham in defensive midfield alongside Pape Matar Sarr.

The Mali International was a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park.

The 26-year-old held his own in midfield, drove the team in attack, joined in with attacking forays, did not let the United attacking players get much joy, and was simply unplayable at times.

It was yet another brilliant display from Bissouma, who could not get into then head coach Antonio Conte’s team last season following his transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2022.

Waddle said about Bissouma: “Bissouma has been a different class today.

“Under the previous managers, none of them wanted to play him.

“Today he has shown his technical quality, lacking in the finish though.

“But last week and this week he has been outstanding.”

Tottenham have started the new Premier League season strongly, and one of the big reasons is the form and performances of Bissouma.

Gary Neville praises Yves Bissouma as Tottenham Hotspur secure 2-0 win against Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in their first Premier League home game of 2023-24, with a second-half goal from Pape Matar Sarr and an own goal from Lisandro Martinez getting the job done.

Spurs were held to a 2-2 draw against Brentford last weekend but were in fine form against the Red Devils in front of their home fans.

Gary Neville was not pleased with the display of Man United, but Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma impressed him, and he did not hesitate to shower praise on the Mali international.

“Bissouma is my player of the match,” he said on Sky Sports during the closing stages of the game.

“He has been brave, gone past people, broke play up. An all-round performance.”

The 26-year-old joined Spurs from Brighton and Hove Albion in June 2022 for £30 million on a four-year deal and is starting to prove his quality after an injury in February ruled him out of the majority of the second half of last season.

Bissouma was in fine form today, making 74 touches, completing 45 out of the 51 passes he attempted, attempting two shots, winning ten of the 16 duels he contested while also winning four tackles.

Manager Ange Postecoglou will hope the Malian can stay fit and keep improving for the whole of the campaign after an injury scare during pre-season.

Bissouma went down towards the end of the first half against Lion City Sailors last month and was spotted holding his foot in some discomfort before he was replaced at the interval.

Fortunately for Tottenham, the former Brighton star did not sustain any knock and he ran the show alongside James Maddison in the middle of the park against Man United today.

Spurs face Bournemouth in their next Premier League game next Saturday at Vitality Stadium and will be keen to pick up their first victory on the road.
