Ange ‘unimpressed’ with £63m flop’s ‘attitude and application’ as Spurs struggle to agree sale
Ange Postecoglou is reportedly ‘unimpressed’ with Tanguy Ndombele’s ‘timekeeping and general attitude and application’ as Tottenham look to sell the French midfielder.
Ndombele remains the north London club’s record signing, joining from Lyon for £55.4million in 2019.
The Frenchman has spent time on loan back at Lyon and with Napoli after falling out of favour following his debut season in England.
He has often been criticised for his poor work rate on the pitch and has clearly been surplus to requirements for some time.
Even with Postecoglou taking over as Spurs’ new head coach in June, there was little to no hope Ndombele would have a place in his team this term.
Ndombele may have no future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but he does not appear to be close to the exit door.
According to a report from The Athletic, Spurs want ‘between €15m (£12.8m) and €20m (£17.1m)’ for the 26-year-old, who has only really attracted interest from Turkey.
Unfortunately for Postecoglou, Ndombele has no desire to play in Turkey after Fenerbahce ‘held talks with Spurs’ earlier this summer.
The Australian head coach has not been impressed by Ndombele, who is clearly not going the extra mile to make himself a part of his plans for 2023/24.
The report says Postecoglou is ‘unimpressed with his timekeeping and general attitude and application, but no interested club has yet been able to come up with a good enough offer’.
Ndombele is not the only player the former Celtic manager is hoping to sell before the summer transfer window closes.
There are said to be talks between Lazio and former captain Hugo Lloris, who has a year remaining on his contract but is not in Postecoglou’s plans.
Lloris does not want to be a No. 2 but a move to Lazio would make him just that.
It is noted that Spurs have a negative reputation when it comes to selling players. In comparison to a club like Liverpool, the north Londoners have ‘struggled over recent years’ which is making it difficult to shift unwanted players.
