Tottenham Hotspur needs defensive protection, and one center-back from London is an intriguing choice.
Ange Postecoglou’s first official signing for Tottenham would be a defensive reinforcement from another London team.
After an 18-month loan period, Dejan Kulusevski has already been officially signed by Spurs to a permanent contract. Due to Tottenham’s failure to qualify for Europe the following season, the buy clause could not be activated, necessitating the negotiation of the agreement.
The Swedish player, however, does not necessarily qualify as Postecoglou’s first acquisition because he was originally acquired by Antonio Conte and sporting director Fabio Paratici. Postecoglou was aiming to strengthen his backline ahead of the season.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are exploring a deal for Fulham centre-back, Tosin Adarabioyo.
The Cottager has a contract which is now set to expire in 2024, with his club having extended the deal by a year in order not to lose him for free this summer. Tim Ream and Issa Diop have been first-choice in the centre of defence under Marco Silva, however.
Davinson Sanchez, who joined Tottenham six years ago and set the club’s record signing, may leave this summer, meaning Tottenham may lose him. Clement Lenglet, who is on loan, is also scheduled to return to Barcelona, and there is uncertainty around Eric Dier’s future.
Despite Tottenham’s team being geared toward Antonio Conte’s back three, Postecoglou used a back four at Celtic and may do so again there.
Pedro Porro, another Tottenham loanee, will make a permanent move this summer according to a buy-back clause in the contract he agreed to in January.
Tosin is valued at €16 million by Transfermarkt.
