Ange has pulled off another masterstroke at Tottenham, arguably bigger than Maddison

Going into the international break, Tottenham Hotspur is on a roll and leading the Premier League standings.

In such a short period of time, Ange Postecoglou has done wonders for Spurs, both in terms of new additions and with the existing roster of players.

Postecoglou’s coaching has given players like Yves Bissouma and Cristian Romero new life, and players like James Maddison have been fantastic additions.

The standout Tottenham acquisition this summer—and maybe Postecoglou and Daniel Levy’s greatest coup—is Maddison.

There is, however, another brilliant move that Postecoglou and the Spurs board have made. namely Guglielmo Vicario.

Even though Maddison has excelled, he was a tried-and-true acquisition since we all knew what he was capable of in the Premier League.

Vicario came to Tottenham in the meantime to mixed reviews. Some supporters were dissatisfied that Spurs lost interest in signing David Raya, an Italian goalkeeper who appeared to be unknown.

He was viewed as the more affordable alternative at £17 million, but given how poorly the previous Italian goalkeeper performed for Tottenham, there didn’t seem to be much excitement surrounding his arrival.
