Ange could sign a bigger talent than Sarr with Spurs swoop for “complete” £15m maestro – opinion

Ange is interested in a “remarkable” prospect who could be better than Sarr for Spurs.

This emerging youngster may turn out to be a real prodigy for the Lilywhites.

After selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur showed their ferocious purpose in the transfer market by supporting new manager Ange Postecoglou with some exciting signings.

The London team, which did not fully qualify for European football the previous season, is currently atop the Premier League table after eight games.

Although the winter transfer market is still a ways off, there might be another prodigy arriving soon. The “revolution” of young signings, as described by football.london’s Alasdair Gold, is laying the groundwork for what might be a golden period.

Who are Tottenham interested in signing?

With players like Heung-min Son and Yves Bissouma providing leadership, the Spurs have successfully combined youth and experience this season. However, there is undoubtedly place for another prospect as promising as Arthur Vermeeren, who is creating quite a stir.

TEAMtalk estimates that the young talent would bring in around £15 million, although Spurs have recently shown that they are ready to spend on intriguing but unproven assets by bringing in Argentina U20 attacker Alejo Veliz in a £13 million transfer in August.

Although Postecoglou makes an alluring offer, Liverpool, Manchester United, Brentford, West Ham United, and Barcelona are also said to be interested.

Who is Arthur Vermeeren?

Jacek Kulig, a talent scout, has already hailed the 18-year-old midfielder as the “complete” athlete and seems to believe that he may be headed for a life of luxury.

Vermeeren is a key player for the Belgian team Royal Antwerp. In 15 games this season, he has recorded a goal and five assists, including two against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

His four direct contributions from the previous year, when he won the Belgian Pro League, have already been surpassed, indicating a growth that will undoubtedly continue if he joins a successful Tottenham team where he can bounce off other talented young players.

Vermeeren, who already has the appearance of a dynamic ace, is among the top midfielders in divisions similar to the Belgian Pro League in terms of progressive passes and tackles, the top 16% for interceptions, and the top 19% for clearances per 90, according to FBref.

Despite being in the early stages of his career, he plays with swagger and cunning belying his age, and given the steps he has already taken, Spurs must complete a swoop.

The talented maestro may even surpass Pape Matar Sarr, who has excelled for Tottenham at the center of the midfield and is now beginning to live up to Fabrizio Romano’s previous assessment of his “fantastic” potential and comparison to a young Paul Pogba.

The 21-year-old Senegalese wonder has started seven of Tottenham’s league games this season and has dazzled with his all-around skill, completing 90% of his passes and averaging 90% completion rate, 1.1 critical passes, 1.6 tackles, and 5.4 ball recoveries per game.

Comparatively, Vermeeren has an 88% pass completion rate in his division thus far. He also averages 1.6 critical passes, 1.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 8.3 ball recoveries per game, and he makes 63% of his dribble attempts, showing that he may be superior to Sarr.

It’s very easy to forget that the Belgium U21 international is still a very young man because he is such a “remarkable” child. If Postecoglou is able to sign him, it may be the highlight of what has the potential to be an amazing reign in London.
