Almost a done deal: Leeds United finally set to sign £15m Tottenham player after targeting him under Bielsa

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to let defender Joe Rodon leave the club on loan with Leeds United set to swoop.

It’s stated that the formalities of the deal will be finalised in the coming days with Leeds on the verge of signing Rodon.

The Whites need defensive additions after losing both Robin Koch and Maximilian Wober this summer.

The likes of Nat Phillips and Pantelis Chatzidiakos have been linked with Leeds in recent days but it’s Rodon now heading to Elland Road.

That means Leeds will have another Welsh international in their ranks, reuniting Rodon with Ethan Ampadu and Daniel James.

The London Evening Standard reported earlier this week that Tottenham have placed Rodon on the transfer list.

Rodon is now on the verge of leaving Tottenham and will head out on loan again having spent the second half of last season at Rennes.

Leeds United finally signing Joe Rodon

This will be a welcome addition to Daniel Farke’s back line at Leeds.

Some of the defending in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City was incredibly worrying and Leeds simply had to get defenders in – especially after Liam Cooper’s injury.

Rodon will now come in having previously dazzled in the Championship with Swansea City.

Rodon’s form for the Swans saw him make a move to Tottenham, with the total value of the deal worth £15million with add-ons.

The move to North London hasn’t worked out for Rodon but he’s been on the Leeds radar for a while now.

The Telegraph reported back in December 2021 – during the Marcelo Bielsa days – that Leeds were keen to take Rodon on loan.

No deal materialised back then but over 18 months on, Rodon finally looks set to become a Leeds player and he will be desperate to get his career back on track
