According to a Sky reporter, “If the Maddison injury…Tottenham make u-turn on £27m star’s future”

SKY REPORTER SAYS TOTTENHAM MAKE U-TURN ON £27M STAR’S FUTURE: “IF THE INJURY TO JAMES MADDISON”

Giovani Lo Celso is now expected to “stay” at Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur this season, according to James Savundra, particularly if James Maddison’s injury is “serious.”Giovani Lo Celso was expected to leave Tottenham at the beginning of the summer transfer season, according to a Sky reporter who appeared on The Transfer Show on Sky Sports on August 22 at 7:35 p.m.

The former Villarreal player has drawn interest from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, although the 27-year-old put up a number of good preseason performances.

In addition, James Maddison’s use of crutches to exit the stadium after his team’s victory over Manchester United has alarmed the Spurs fan base.

That’s the last thing Ange Postecoglou needs because his summer signing, even after the exit of Harry Kane, has been morale-boosting for a side that was on the floor after last season.

Either way, it seems as though Lo Celso, even though Barcelona are also knocking, is going to stay put at Tottenham this summer.

“One player we potentially think might now stay, who we were convinced at the start of the window would be on the move, Giovani Lo Celso, especially if James Maddison’s injury is serious,” said Savundra.

“We showed you pictures throughout the week, he walked off on crutches following the victory over Manchester United. We are still waiting on an update and the severity of that injury.”

Lo Celso’s Spurs career yet to kick off

Mauricio Pochettino was in the dugout when Spurs brought Lo Celso to the club, on an initial loan deal in 2019, before making his move permanent for £27 million (BBC Sport).

It didn’t help Lo Celso’s cause that, months into life at Spurs, Pochettino was sacked, and since then, he hasn’t been able to get himself going.

In nearly five years, he has only played 84 matches, but outside of that, he did win the Copa America with Argentina and also reach the semi-finals of the Champions League with Villarreal.
