Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham spine is bolstered by two African Player of the Year nominees.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou may add two more players during the upcoming transfer windows to bolster his strong African contingent. The shortlist for African Player of the Year includes current Spurs players Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, and there are rumors that the Londoners are keeping an eye on other players who made the cut.

Ten games into the former Celtic manager’s tenure, Spurs are leading the Premier League thanks to the dynamic midfield combination of Sarr and Bissouma. Supporters have rejoiced over the pair’s success after former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte limited their playing time in the previous campaign.

Postecoglou should have a solid duo to rely on for years to come at the ages of 27 and 21, respectively. Their stellar performances both in domestic and international competitions with Senegal and Mali have earned them a spot on the 30-man shortlist for African Player of the Year.

Before the January transfer window opens, Spurs might look at a few of the other 28 stars for ideas.

Serhou Guirassy has had a fantastic start to the season with Stuttgart, and it is said that the Lilywhites and many other clubs throughout Europe are interested in signing him.

Regardless of his price, his incredible 14 goals in just eight Bundesliga games would make him a target, but his release clause, which is thought to be around £17.3 million, makes him an excellent value for any club looking for firepower.

With Son Heung-min scoring goals so far this season, Spurs have plenty of that, but Postecoglou would be short due to the South Korean’s injury. Despite being a French native, Guirassy, 27, represents Guinea in international football.

Edmond Tapsoba is another player on the African Player of the Year shortlist. Spurs are rumored to have been interested in the Bayer Leverkusen star during the summer, and the player’s excellent start to the campaign under manager Xabi Alonso will have helped his chances of landing a high-profile deal.

Leverkusen leads the Bundesliga with a nearly perfect record of 25 points from a possible 27 points thanks to Tapsoba, who has started every game in the team’s season.

Alonso’s team is behind even Bayern Munich, the defending champions, who give up less than one goal per game thanks to Tapsoba. The 24-year-old Burkina Faso international has long piqued Spurs’ interest, and their dominant Premier League standing may provide Postecoglou with the leverage he needs to complete the transfer in January.
